How did you choose which sectors to cover? What's in the pipeline?

That's a great question :) We started with technology news, the reason being that we first wanted to answer a need we personally know very well. In fact, this was the reason why we've developed this platform in the first place: Technology news happen so fast, there are so many great sources, and so many great apps for reading them... But the amount of news can be overwhelming, so we wanted to create something which would allow us to be well in-the-know, in minimal time and hassle. That's what originally drove us to create Riversip.

Of course, we are already extending Riversip to cover many more sectors and spheres of content – starting from entertainment as our second vertical. As to what's next, why not have your say? How do you do your ranking? What do the grades mean?

The grade is meant to help you assess how “notable” a specific event is. It basically represents a measure of the “public conversation” going around that event – how notable people perceive it to be.

It is important to note that the grade is not based purely on volume, but also on some qualitative measures - all based on human/social signals. (We don't let algorithms decide what's important; the algorithms only help in arranging the information. This is why we call our technology Algo-Social © - it combines the human judgment with the algorithmic ability to scale and arrange information.)
